The Program

The ACS psychological astrology program provides an intimate forum for understanding your own chart as well as for delivering empowering and life affirming readings for others.The learning environment is interactive and supportive, and all questions and perspectives are considered.

The information is taught experientially, utilizing metaphor and mythology and offering specific practical tools. There are special lab sessions each quarter, designed to help you practice and integrate the material. Participating is fun filled, informative, and life changing!

Classes are limited to 14 people in order to provide quality instruction for everyone.

You can become an Astrologer!

In this 6 month training program you will learn:

• The basic building blocks of astrology including elements, signs, houses, and points
• Planets, aspects, and transits
• Psychological inquiry and interpretation
• Basic counseling skills for delivering empowering and life affirming readings
• Archetypal perspective and mythology
• Chart analysis and client attunement

Trainees will receive 4 full weekends of professional instruction necessary to give accurate and psychologically sensitive astrological readings.

Lab and practice sessions are provided as well as a workbook packed full of instructions, handouts, articles and practice sheets. Graduates will receive a diploma as trained astrologers through ACS upon completion of the entire program and the homework assignments.

No previous psychology or astrology experience needed.

Diploma Requirements

• Attendance at a minimum of 8 out of 9 sessions or 64 out of 72 hours. i.e. missing no more than 1 class or 8 total hours.
• Completion of all classwork, homework, and reading assignments.
• Demonstrating competence and compassion in preparing and delivering a psychological astrology reading: do an in class presentation or turn in a video or an audio tape, and a written write up ( *the write up can be an outline or simply your notes).

What is Psychological Astrology?

Definition

Psychological Astrology is a study of astrology focusing on psychological dynamics as represented by the chart archetypes which are universally repeating patterns. The individual’s birth chart is considered a symbolic representation of a person’s psyche as well as their potential for creative manifestation in life.

From an astrological chart, you can understand an individual’s personality and psychological make-up; you can understand their core needs, desires, and deep seated fears, as well as their natural talents and limitations. You can see life lessons embedded in the chart; there are different energies and challenges which, when integrated, allow the person to function in a healthy manner, from their source, and at their highest potential.

Assumptions & Biases

• We live in an intentional and enchanted universe in which everything is conspiring to awaken our divine consciousness.

• We may refuse the call to awaken. We may be victims or perpetrators. We are born with the demand to learn and experience. We do not consciously choose what occurs all of the time, however we definitely choose how we respond to our various opportunities, catastrophes, and calls to our heart.

• The astrological chart is a precise map of archetypal correlations which, when lived fully, connect us to ourselves, our loved ones, and the community of all things.

• Studying the mandala of the natal chart leads to the blossoming of a spiritual and compassionate perspective of human kind.

The Leaders

Jennifer Freed, PhD, MFT: Jennifer has been a licensed psychotherapist and depth oriented astrologer for over twenty five years. She has served as core faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute, and specializes in teaching psychological astrology from a process perspective. As the Executive Director of ACS, she has been teaching psychological astrology for over 15 years. She is certified by ISAR, the International Society for Astrological Research.

Barbara R. Yaffee Rev: Barbara has been leading large and small group seminars, teaching counseling skills, and facilitating personal and spiritual growth for over 25 years in a wide variety of settings and modalities. She has been practicicng psychological astrology for the past 4 years and has been approved by ACS.
