Vedic
Astrology (called "Jyotish", or the Science of Light)
comes to us from India and goes back thousands of years to the
ancient Vedic culture. It is based on the Vedas, the original
scriptures that were brought to us by enlightened sages. It assumes
the law of karma, which is the principle of cause and effect.
Vedic astrology is more predictive in nature, gives a better view
of a person’s karmic tendencies while defining a person's
psychological nature, and puts focus on understanding when certain
events are likely to take place. In terms of analyzing relationship
compatibility and auspicious timing of events, it offers some
of the most sophisticated tools of prediction and analysis. It
puts emphasis on the spiritual development of the individual and
how one"s quality of life can ameliorate through self-improvement
and higher thought.

All of the semi-precious gemstone beads used in the Vedic-Remedies
malas have been individually hand-picked and selected for their
high vibration and grade. These beads are ‘cleansed’
with the smoke from burning sage and then they are soaked in salt
water overnight and rinsed the next day. They are then placed
in a sunny spot to dry for a few days before they are brought
into my workshop area.

These
beads are approximately 8 mm in size and are a combination of
both Grade ‘A’ and Grade ‘B’ quality.
I use multiple strands of high tinsel strength cotton thread to
create the strongest ‘string’ possible in order to
ensure durability and longevity. I also listen and sing to Kirtan
music (call and response chanting) while I am assembling the malas
so there are Divine Intentions and Sacred Prayers going directly
into each bead as it is being threaded. After all of the 108 gemstone
beads are in place, I finish out the mala with a Rudraksha seed
bead as the 109th bead or ‘Guru’ bead. I place a decorative
silver cap on the top and bottom of each guru bead, tying it off
at the bottom and securing the knot with a high quality bonding
agent in order to reduce the possibility of it becoming untied.
For the last step, they are then placed on my altar, ’charged’
inside a geode overnight and they are then tagged and bagged for
distribution.
