Qigong
(pronounced chee-gong), the practice of energy cultivation,
and Tai Chi (pronounced tie-chee), the practice of balance and
harmony, are ancient Chinese exercises that promote optimal
health, vitality and longevity.
"When
you cultivate balance and harmony within yourself, or in the
world -- that is Tai Chi. When you work and play with the essence
and energy of life, nature and the universe for healing, clarity
and inner peace -- that is Qigong."
- Dr. Roger Jahnke
The
4 components to Qigong/Tai Chi are:
Mindful
Movements, Breathwork, Meditation, and Self-Applied Massage
Mindful movements, synchronized with the breath, gently exercise
and stretch the body.
Deep breathing and meditation relaxes and centers the body,
mind and spirit.
Self-applied massage of hands, feet, ears and scalp stimulate
acupressure points to improve organ function , the immune
system and energy flow.
Qigong
classes concentrate on optimal health, longevity, vitality and
healing the body. The exercises reduce stress and improve the
practitioners' overall health and sense of well-being. Exercises
can be done seated, standing or lying down, thus, they are an
excellent practice for those who are recovering from surgery
illness or injury as well as those who want to maintain and
improve their health.

it wasn’t until discovering Qigong that she encountered
the powerful self healing energy of her own body and that of
the universe. Tai Chi has improved her balance and has been
a very grounding and calming exercise in her life. It is Jessica"s
great honor, as a Level 3 Qigong and Tai Chi Easy instructor,
to share these ancient methods of healing ourselves with others.

Health
Benefits of Qigong and Tai Chi
Qigong
and Tai Chi are ancient Chinese practices that promote optimal
health, vitality and longevity. Developed over millennia in
Chinese monasteries, hospitals, and imperial courts, Qigong
was kept a carefully guarded secret from the Chinese public,
Qigong has recently come into widespread use throughout the
Far East. Now, in the West, it is viewed as a health and human
performance breakthrough, as well as an ancient power tool for
self-improvement and a safe, gentle, proven approach to treating
pain and disease.
On
Monday, September 27, 2010, The New York Times published the
following article on the benefits of Tai Chi for personal health!
"Tai
chi is often described as "meditation in motion,"
but it might well be called "medication in motion."
There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which
originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating
or preventing many health problems." - Harvard Women's
Health Watch May 2009

I leave with joyful, healing energy, and a natural high.

I
would like to say how positive an impact Qigong has had on my
life over the last year. Jessica was my first teacher. I was
hooked after the first experience. I had always wanted to learn
Qigong or Tai Chi. Now I do it at least once a week sometimes
two or three times. The connection I feel with Jessica is very
healing mentally and physically. I am forever grateful, especially
in times of great stress or illness, that I have learned to
practice the breathing and simple movements. Be well and happy.
