Have you ever wondered how two cells came together to form
one, then divide and differentiate into the incredibly complex
organism known as you? The same power that created us from
two cells coordinates and regulates every function within
our bodies. In Chiropractic Philosophy we call this power
Innate Intelligence. Innate Intelligence is a subset of Universal
Intelligence (from last column), that is unique to living
things.
To
clarify, it is important to understand that we are not talking
about education or the ability to learn things; that I call
acquired or educated intelligence. The intelligence we are
talking about is the "knowledge" that every living
entity is born with, which allows it to adapt to the environment
to survive. If you put a plant on a windowsill, in a day or
so it will have turned its leaves to face the light. Turn
the plant around and in another day it will have turned its
leaves to receive the light and energy it needs to maintain
its normal functions.
The
plant does not use logic to figure out that it needs light,
or decide to turn its leaves to face the light. It does not
"think" and it is not self-aware. Yet the intelligence
it possesses allows it to go from a tiny seed to a lush plant,
to send its roots into the soil for water and nutrients, and
to search out and utilize light and air to transform those
elements into additional leaves, roots, sprouts, and seed
to be carried in the wind to start the process all over somewhere
else. Not random action, but intelligence. Not education,
but inborn knowledge, or Innate Intelligence.
In
a human being, it is the Innate Intelligence that tells a
newborn baby how many times per minute its heart should beat;
how to ingest and digest nutrients and eliminate waste; how
to develop and utilize white blood cells to deal with infections;
how to communicate its need for outside assistance. No one
has to teach an infant these things.
Yet,
Innate Intelligence can only guide the internal functioning
of that child. It cannot enable her to manipulate her environment
or do more than her body will permit. For instance, she cannot
walk to the refrigerator and get a snack if she's hungry,
anymore than a plant can turn on a lamp when it needs more
light. Therefore many actions take training and education
rather than inborn Intelligence.
Every
living thing possesses 100% of the Innate Intelligence it
needs. Innate Intelligence is always normal and its function
is always normal. This means that our bodies "know"
exactly what they need and how to adapt to our environment
in order to function optimally. If our health relied solely
on our Innate Intelligence, we would all be perfectly healthy,
because our bodies know what to do. However there are other
factors at work. A master carpenter might be an expert at
building a table, but if his arm is in a cast and he cannot
apply force to a hammer, or if he does not have the proper
tools, the table will not come out very well.
Our
Innate Intelligence knows what to do at all times, however
if it is hampered by lack of Life Force, or the lack of proper
tools (matter), the result is less than normal functioning.
The three elements Intelligence, Force and Matter make up
what Chiropractors call the Triune of Life. If any one of
these intertwined elements of the triune is diminished the
result is less than optimal function.
Since
a person's Innate Intelligence has all of the "expertise"
it needs to properly maintain that body, there is no need
to address that area; and since the matter, or tools provided
to each person (the body and internal organs) are a result
of the _expression of Intelligence through Life Force many
Chiropractors do not involve themselves with this either.
Their concern is with the Life Force, which provides the link
between the Innate Intelligence and Innate Matter.
Chiropractic
Adjustments free up potential energy and Life Force. Allowing
every individual whether a newborn, an athlete, or a grandparent
to enjoy more Life, deepening everyone's potential to heal
biologically and at the core.
Due
to greater Life Force flow, all areas of a person's life improve.
In some, physical, emotional or mental challenges may clear
up quickly, in others the process is slower, and in some,
it is partial or not at all. Yet everyone will benefit on
many levels from greater life-expression.
